What's new at TJCS

Important Notice:

Next time you are near TJCS, you will notice we are under construction.  We are adding seven classrooms as well as additional bathrooms to the building.

At this point in time, the water lines are under construction and the building water is turned off.  Right now, the soonest we will be able to start school will be on Monday, August 23rd.  If we do not have water on the 23rd, we will not start school on that day as we will not be in session without water.  Please watch the tjcs.org website and check "Monday Notes" for updates.  We will let you know as soon as the water is on.

We are looking forward to another fantastic school year!  See you soon!

Message from Brown Bus Company:

TJCS Parents,

Brown Bus Company would like to welcome you back to the new school year. We would like to remind all parents of a few things:

If your student needs busing after school for sports to another Vallivue School, we offer busing to Vallivue High school and Vallivue Middle School (Bus #64) and Sage Valley and Ridgevue High School (Bus #37). They do need a note from a parent stating the student is riding due to sports.

If your student goes to the YMCA in the afternoon (Bus #64) we will need a new form from the YMCA stating they are a member and it's ok we transport. You may get this form from the YMCA.

Again, this year most of our buses are very full in the afternoon so if your student is having friends go home with them in the afternoon please call Brown Bus 455-2532 to make sure there is room on the bus.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to call.

We will be needing a TJCS bus driver soon. This is a great part time job. We offer paid training, have the days off your kids do, and a $1500.00 sign on bonus. Starting wage is $16.50.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Shannon @ Brown Bus Company 208-455-2532.

High School

Our students are required to complete community and family service each of the 4 years they attend our school. Our goal is to create young men and women who value helping others. Our students receive high school credit for these activities and it shows up on their high school transcripts.

Middle School – Grades 7-8

Much of what we do in grades 7 and 8 is directly involved with the transition from elementary to high school. We believe a virtuous citizen leader must learn to deal with change…but it is one of our jobs to help them with this skill. Most students who do not graduate from high school have a terrible 9th grade year. This can be directly attributed, in many cases, to kids who are not ready for the change to high school where every grade counts, where they have 6-7 different teachers, where teachers can’t keep them in from recess to finish work…the list can go onward. In our middle school, our kids have 4 different teachers for the major subjects. This is much more challenging for many kids. It creates challenges in the middle years; but better to have the challenges then than in 9th grade where the credits for graduation start counting!

Grades K-6

Kindergarten is half day; starting at 7:55 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m.  Bus transportation is available in the morning, but parents will need to pick up at 11:30.

Math concept boards are present in each classroom. Students will work on all different areas in math every day…computation, geometry, measurement, statistics, problem solving, etc. Grade level work as well as above grade level work is practiced by every student, every day. We believe that a virtuous citizen leader is a well educated person.
